responsive-museKeymasterHi!
The PHP version seems right, maybe there is a permission problem or any restriction.
We would need to check your control panel to see what is happening. Maybe you can recreate a demo site and share the control panel user and password with us.
responsive-museKeymasterHi!
We have been checking your code and it seems basepath is not active now.
With your current setup (non www to www redirect) you should enter this as the basepath value:http://www.cliftonhcl.co.uk
Please, do it and if the problem continues write back so we can check it again.April 16, 2018 at 8:44 am in reply to: Can't access the Control panel after uploading the website to the host #37260
responsive-museKeymasterIt should be compatible with PHP7, buy maybe you can downgrade it to check it if works.
Anyway, in our experience, free hostings usually carry problems and/or restrictions that may affect the PHP code.
You can try to upload a PHPinfo file, to be sure that PHP is working in the server. More info at: https://mediatemple.net/community/products/dv/204643880/how-can-i-create-a-phpinfo.php-page

responsive-museKeymasterHello!
Seeing the PHP file as source code usually means that the server PHP support is not active. Do you have any URL that we can check?

responsive-museKeymasterHi!
Did you follow the instructions from the videotutorial?
Do you have a sample URL that we can check?
responsive-museKeymasterHi Tom!
As seen in your email, it seems that the problem was a conflict with WordPress cookies, when using Easyblog in a WordPress subfolder.
I think it is solved, tell us if not!
responsive-museKeymasterI do not see the basepath option active in your demo URL, you can paste a screenshot of your PHP file settings here if you want us to check them.
responsive-museKeymasterHi!
We have been checking it and it seems that your server is not using standard filepaths.
That’s a common issue, to solve it, you need to set the “basepath” value inside the PHP file.
You can find instructions about how to use this feature in the product page (and V2 video) and also in this thread:

responsive-museKeymasterHello!
Do you have a demo URL that we can check?
responsive-museKeymasterHi Susa,
Your best option here is to make the text frame bigger so the word will fit the text frame and it won’t split. The text frame is the box that contains the text. Just click the sides and you can make it bigger.
Kind regards,
responsive-museKeymasterHi Caroline,
The PHP version that you were using is controlled by your hosting, so we pointed you in the right direction since the first reply. Updating the PHP version is the same as deactivating magic_quotes settings. You can read more info about that here: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/2496455/why-are-post-variables-getting-escaped-in-php
This is a PHP “feature” known as Magic Quotes, which has now been deprecated in PHP 5.3 and removed in PHP 5.4.
I do not understand why you are shocked, we have detected the problem in your hosting and since they were using and outdated PHP version (probably 10 years old), that proves that the problem was on their configuration. There are tons of PHP versions and configurations and we cannot guess which one your server is using.
When your hosting said that there was no problem in its configuration, we insisted because we were 100% sure it was not true. This happens to us every day giving support to our customers.
About the images, you should be able to upload them using the media gallery or directly from the new post area, so I am not sure if you have another problem that makes the image upload to fail in certain areas.
Thank you for your feedback, I’ll tell your advice to my colleagues to improve next video tutorials.
responsive-museKeymasterHi Caroline.
Unfortunately, your hosting support reply is probably wrong, they usually use “never recognice that the problem is in our side” policies.
They are probably using maqic_quotes in your server and they should disable it. Please, send them this link: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/2496455/why-are-post-variables-getting-escaped-in-php
About the image, I would check this when the main backslash problem is solved, now we are not sure if it will be related or not.
If the problem continues tell us, we will try to do additional tests.
Kind regards,
responsive-museKeymasterHi Caroline,
You showed us before an example of your website that we have been checking.
About your problems:
1, 3 & 4. Please, contact your hosting provider to ask them if they have any protection over POST and GET forms submissions that are adding additional backslashes to escape “the original” ones. They should understand this problem and provide a solution.
2. This problem may be related to the previous issue too, or it can be a basepath issue. Check this thread to learn how to use the basepath setting https://responsive-muse.com/forums/topic/easyblog-v2-update-new-features-and-bug-fixes/
It makes no difference if you are using free or pro version, first you have to fix this issues with your server before using the widget.
I hope it helps!
responsive-museKeymasterThe videotutorial is ready! 🙂
responsive-museKeymasterHi Contessa,
Yes, you need to download the widget again to use the basepath feature. You will see the basepath option in the new easyblog.php file.
During the next days we will publish a new video tutorial explaining V2 features in our Youtube channel, that will probably help!
