In this first chapter you will learn how to get a domain, to get a hosting provider and point your new to domain to your hosting provider.
GET A DOMAIN
First step is to get a domain. You usually buy domains in name registrars like Name.com, namecheap.com, dynadot.com or Godaddy.com
If you have a name in mind, find the “search domain” field in their page and type it. The name will appear with different extensions available like .com, .net or .org. When you are done choosing your domain and extension, add it to the cart. Pay careful attention before you checkout as some domain registrars might want to charge you for extra services. Make sure you are just purchasing your domain and not all the extra services if you are not interested in them.
GET A HOSTING PROVIDER
Once you have your domain, it is time to get a hosting server. Your domain needs to be hosted on a server. If you are not sure which one to choose, here we have some suggestions:
Some companies like Godaddy or Hostgator offer domain and hosting services, but it is more common to get a domain and a hosting from different companies. If this is your case (the most common case) what you have to do is point your domain to your hosting provider.
POINT YOUR DOMAIN TO YOUR HOSTING PROVIDER
You need to search for your DNS (domain name server) in your hosting provider, copy them and bring them to your domain registrar. It is recommended to do this step the earlier, the better, as this process takes a while to be completed.
